Call for Papers

The Fifth International Workshop on Stochastic Modeling and Applied Research of Technology (SMARTY 2026) will be held in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, one of the beautiful places in the North-West Russia, on September 14-18, 2026.

SMARTY workshop is an established biannual series of events that aim to bring together researchers working on the theoretical, algorithmic and methodological aspects of queueing theory, stochastic modeling and applied probability, focusing on applications of such methods across a broad spectrum of technical systems with primary interest in high-performance and distributed computing systems and, recently, modern computing trends such as quantum computing.

Key focus:

SMARTY 2026 sets up a working environment to share recent results on

  • Stability and performance issues of stochastic models of high-performance and distributed computing systems, as well as other modern technologies;
  • Simulation, estimation, and subtle techniques of stochastic modeling and analysis applied to various computing and communication systems.

Submissions:

Submissions are handled by our partner uConfy where all the necessary details are available. The official language of SMARTY is English. We expect that the accepted papers will be presented at the workshop.

Proceedings of SMARTY are planned to be published via the SMARTY Proceedings online publication series (ISSN 2782-4705, DOI), after passing a single-blind review procedure by two or more independent reviewers. Please use Springer LNCS template for paper submissions.

We encourage the workshop participants to submit their selected papers to the thematic volume of the Reliability: Theory and Applications journal published by the Gnedenko Forum. Upon submission, please add the comment “SMARTY 2026” to the editorial board.

A. A. Borovkov Memorial Track:

The special track dedicated to the memory of Alexander A. Borovkov and composed of invited talks is to be held on September 17 as a satellite event of the SMARTY workshop.

Roadmap:

A preliminary schedule of the workshop and the publication process is as follows (all the times are AoE):

  • Registration starts – May 21, 2026
  • Workshop abstracts/papers submission deadline – September 1, 2026
  • Notification of acceptance – September 8, 2026
  • Camera ready workshop papers – September 13, 2026
  • SMARTY workshop – September 14-18, 2026
  • RT&A journal submission (hard) deadline – October 15, 2026

Youth Camp:

September 18th is dedicated to students and young researchers focusing on queueing theory, stochastic modeling, applied probability and computer science. We expect several invited lectures and tutorials to inspire young researchers in those fields.
